Who is Jonathan Macias?

I am currently an undergraduate senior attending Oregon State University for a major in Computer Science, a minor in statistics, and a minor in mathematics.


When not taking classes, I am working on side projects with my ECE/CS undergrad friends, and actively compete in OSU Hackathon events every term. As of 2021, I am the club president of Chi Alpha, a Christian fellowship student group.


A personal interest of mine is videogames, as that was once my single biggest passion, and I have a collection of Xbox consoles and accessories to prove it :). Another interest is my love for many genres of music, which takes a toll on my wallet and phone battery life every single day. Recently I have also taken up an interest in fitness, and have been prioritizing a lot of my free time in the campus recreation center.

Skills

My skills are admittedly introductory but expansive across the vast field of computer science. From web development using react, database experience using MYSQL, blockchain solution development with Ganache, and Web3 over JavaScript, all the way to neural network implementations using stochastic gradient descent and extensive training mechanisms to avoid data overfitting.


Career Goals/Plans

My future career plans are still in flux, as I am opening doorways and weighing my options. My goals are to work within software engineering and in one of the many subfields that I have a passion for. Such passionate subfields of mine are cloud computing solutions, embedded systems, and many artificial intelligence developments such as natural language processing, deep learning, and many more.
